Originally a bassist, composer and arranger (Brégent, Conventum, Orchestre Sympathique), J.L. has been acting for 25 years as producer and sound engineer for artists such as Karen Young, Michel Donato, Jean Vanasse, Miroslav Vitous, Normand Guilbeault et François Richard, but also for singers songwriters such as Pierre Létourneau, Bon Débarra, Catherine Major et Sophie Lemaire.
Bachelor in Jazz Performance, Music Master specialized in sound recording from McGill University, J.L. was recipient of Best Live Recording du DOWNBEAT MAGAZINE and associate engineer at the Banff Center for the Arts. In 2004, one of his productions (Catherine Major, Par-dessus Bord) was awarded a «Coup de cœur» prize from France's Académie Charles Cros.
Recent years, J.L. was director-organizer of OFF Festival de Jazz, President of the Jazz Artists Coalition of Quebec (JACQ), producer of Jazz Thursdays at Place des Arts and Special Adviser to the Government of Quebec as a jury member of the Piano Competition of the Festival de Jazz de Messina (Italy). He is regularly invited to sit as a FACTOR juror .
